As Long as Little Boys Have Hankies
We’ve always loved this book. It’s just so funny and delightful. I read it for the kids in my co-op class this week and they seemed to enjoy it. I guess we’re not the only ones. Anyway, after reading the story, we talked about having good manners when we sneeze. We discussed all the uses for a handkerchief, and then we made our own! I had my son make a practice one to show them…that’s all they needed. You should have seen some of the designs. Truly unique and SO creative.
I discovered that carrying a hankie is not a practice that is completely lost on the younger generation, either. One little guy told me his paw paw had hundreds of them. Imagine that! Hundreds. And he even knew how to fold it and proudly stuffed it in his back pocket, just like a little man! (I have to point out that he kept his shirt pulled up just enough so that you could see that he was in possession of a hankie.) Just like a real gentleman. Chivalry is not dead, my friends…not as long as little boys have hankies.
Which book is it, Gina? The link goes to another website, but I didn’t see a book…am I missing it?
